From The Edge
November 2025
Sharpen your edge every month – insights, tips and tools to help elite hockey players skate faster, smarter and stronger!
In this issue we dive into what happens after the final whistle — and why cooling down might be the most overlooked part of elite performance.
Falcons Edge is excited to announce our newest partnership with OHA.
Meet Nate, our featured athlete, whose drive and determination set the tone for what it means to push your game further.
At Falcon’s Edge, every stride is a step toward mastery. Let’s get after it.
After an intense practice or game, a proper cool-down helps young athletes recover faster and stay injury-free.
A great cool-down can be done right at the rink — no fancy equipment needed.
Start with 3–5 minutes of gentle walking to bring the heart rate down, flush out lactic acid and let the body relax.
Follow this with light stretching for the quads, hamstrings, hips, glutes, and calves to release tension from skating. Shoulder and arm stretches are also important to loosen up after shooting and passing. Deep, slow breathing helps reset focus and calm the body after high-intensity effort.
A short team cool-down can also be a great moment to reflect, share positive feedback, and build team spirit.
Regularly cooling down keeps muscles flexible, reduces soreness, and ensures players feel strong and ready for their next skate.
